Day 1 – Friday: Lao Cai – Bac Ha (Meals: -, Lunch, Dinner)
After breakfast, begin your adventure with a scenic cycling journey along quiet, flat roads heading toward Bac Ngam. The route takes you through the peaceful countryside of the Red River Valley, where life moves at a gentle pace. Along the way, enjoy views of traditional villages, lush rice paddies, and terraced fields shaped by generations of farming.
By midday, arrive in Bac Ngam and pause for a relaxing picnic lunch surrounded by nature.
In the afternoon, the route becomes more challenging as you begin a steady ascent toward Bac Ha Town, with some uphill sections that reward you with sweeping mountain views. If at any point you feel tired, a support jeep will be available to transfer you comfortably to the next stop.
Upon arrival in Bac Ha, check in to a traditional Tay ethnic homestay, where you will spend the next two nights. Enjoy a refreshing drink, a warm shower, and a home-style dinner, marking a rewarding end to your first day in the highlands.

Day 2 – Saturday: Bac Ha – Can Cau Market – Bac Ha (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today is dedicated to one of the most vibrant cultural highlights of the region: the Can Cau Market.
After breakfast, cycle through hilly terrain toward Can Cau. The ride is scenic and occasionally demanding, but the dramatic landscapes of valleys, mountains, and ethnic villages make every moment worthwhile. After approximately 1.5 hours, arrive at the market.
Spend the morning exploring the lively atmosphere of Can Cau Market, where ethnic minority groups such as the Flower Hmong, Black Dao, Phu La, and others gather in full traditional dress. The market is filled with colorful textiles, livestock trading, local produce, and handcrafted goods. It is a fascinating place to observe authentic cultural exchange and daily life in the highlands.
Enjoy a picnic lunch before cycling back toward Bac Ha in the afternoon.
On the return journey, you may optionally visit Ban Pho Village, home to Flower Hmong and Nung communities. The village is known for its plum orchards, vegetable farming, and traditional corn wine production. Visit a local home and enjoy a tasting of this famous local specialty.
Return to your homestay in Bac Ha for another evening of warm hospitality and dinner.

Day 3 – Sunday: Bac Ha – Lao Cai / Departure (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, -)
After breakfast and a morning coffee, take a short walk to visit the historic former Hmong King’s Palace, where you can enjoy panoramic views over Bac Ha town and surrounding valleys.
Continue to the vibrant Bac Ha Sunday Market, one of the largest and most colorful ethnic markets in northern Vietnam. Here, Flower Hmong, Tay, Nung, Phu La, and Black Dao communities gather to trade goods, livestock, and local produce. Spend time exploring the lively market atmosphere and capturing memorable cultural scenes.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, begin a scenic downhill cycling route toward Bao Nhai, where you will board a relaxing boat trip along the Chay River. Drift past peaceful riverside landscapes and observe daily life along the riverbanks—a calm and scenic contrast to the morning’s vibrant market.
At Coc Ly, your vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to Lao Cai Railway Station for your onward night train to Hanoi. Alternatively, you may return to Sapa for further mountain exploration.
