From Hanoi, travel southeast to Cuc Phuong National Park, established in 1962 and regarded as one of Vietnam’s most beautiful and ecologically important nature reserves. The park is a haven for wildlife, home to over 307 rare bird species such as the Silver Pheasant, Red-collared Woodpecker, Brown Hornbill, and Bar-bellied Pitta, as well as a wide variety of amphibians, reptiles, and insects. Its ancient forest boasts nearly 2,000 tree species, providing a lush backdrop for exploration. Begin your journey at the Endangered Primate Rescue Center, where rescued primates are cared for and prepared to return to the wild under the guidance of Vietnamese and German biologists.
From there, drive 20 km to the start of a 7 km jungle trekking trail, which includes several stairs and moderate terrain, leading you through dense forest and culminating in a visit to a prehistoric cave containing human skeletons and stone tools dating back 7,500 years.
